Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 5th LGBTIQ Women’s Health Online Conference and to everyone who attended our first special event last Tuesday 9 November: Blak women and femme identities navigating the borderlands of culture, whiteness, and queer territories.

Centring queer women of colour: in conversation with Bexx, Elsa & Monique

We’re excited to announce a panel discussion and Q&A centring queer women of colour:
Co-Chairs:
Angie Kocsisek (she/her)
Angie is a lesbian woman of colour living and working on Darug Land. She works at ACON as a Home-Based Care Coordinator supporting older LGBT+ folk. Her previous experiences include working in the intersections of drug and alcohol and domestic and family violence spaces. She has a huge passion for honoring and authentically representing the histories and stories of both biological and logical families and communities.
Rani Holland (she/her)
Rani is a multi-gender attracted woman of colour living and working on Awabakal Land. She works at ACON as a Community Health Promotion Officer supporting better health outcomes for regional community. She is also a first-generation Indian immigrant and a writer who is passionate about advocating for diversity and inclusion and elevating the stories of people of colour, diverse sexualities and genders.
Speakers:
Bexx Djentuh (she/her)
Having started out as a events producer in Aotearoa facilitating Maori/Pasifika queer events, Bexx has reignited her passion for new and inviting spaces in Naarm. Creating club nights headlining QTIPOC/BIPOC artists, she also has also worked alongside collectives that fostered discussion around representation in the music world. Getting a bit older (lol), she has now switched her 9pm-3am job to work 3pm-9pm supporting young LGBTQIA+ & QTIPOC folk find connection to community through (in)visible.
Elsa Tuet-Rosenberg (she/her)
Elsa (she/her) is a queer, Jewish and Chinese educator, facilitator, activist and performer. She is the co-founder of Hue, an antiracism & social justice organisation and is a board member and co-chair of the QTIPOC committee at Switchboard. In 2020 she was awarded one of Out for Australia’s 30 under 30, for LGBTQIA+ role models and leaders.
Monique (she/her)
Monique is currently a Senior Advisor in Intersectional Practice at Our Watch. In her previous roles she has worked as a facilitator and educator at the Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health, WIRE Women’s Information & Referral Exchange and Switchboard Victoria. Much of her work has involved facilitating conversations around primary prevention, family violence and intersectionality. She is passionate about prison abolition and transformative justice.
